JUANFAJARDO
Self-taught. Self-made. Still going.
From the streets of the Coachella Valley to culinary school scholarships, freight supervision, and building digital businesses — this is how I built the work I do now.
A LIFE
IN MOTION.
NO SCHOOL.
NO ROOF.
NO SHORTCUTS.
My formal schooling ended in the 6th grade. What came after wasn't a choice — it was survival. I spent my teenage years and early adult life unhoused, navigating the Coachella Valley without a support system, a safety net, or anyone showing me the way.
Most people in that position don't smile at strangers. I did. Every morning, walking past people who stepped away, avoided eye contact, or looked through me — I still said hello. Not because it was easy. Because I decided that's who I was going to be, even when the world was telling me something different.
I got plenty of “you'll never be anything” back then. From people who should've known better. It wore on me — I won't pretend it didn't. But it never stuck. I'd let it hit, let it pass, and keep moving. Slowly. Always forward.
THAT STAYED
THE
TURNING
POINT.
ONE YEAR.
TWO WINS.
I turned my life around. I earned my GED. I did one year of community college. And I started working — at The Home Depot, on the freight dock, at the bottom. The same place most people clock in, collect a check, and go home. I treated it like a masterclass.
By 2021, a year that would define me in two completely separate ways, I was a known quantity — reliable, capable, the kind of person leadership thinks of when they need someone to step up.
WIN ONE · 2021
ACCEPTED TO THE CIA.
The Culinary Institute of America. First-year scholarship. On-campus housing included. Getting in requires alumni-backed recommendations and meeting a standard they set — not one you apply to. They picked me. Then COVID happened, and it all had to stop.
WIN TWO · SAME YEAR
PROMOTED TO
FREIGHT
SUPERVISOR
The Home Depot asked — not told — if I would step up to lead the overnight freight team. I didn't apply. I was chosen. I took it, led a 20–25 person team, and ran the operation like I'd been doing it for years. Because in every way that mattered, I had been.
Two completely different worlds — hospitality and retail operations — both singled me out in the same year. That's not luck. That's what it looks like when someone with no ceiling keeps climbing anyway.
EIGHT
YEARS.
SIX ROLES.
ALL EARNED.
From 2017 to 2024, I built a complete ground-up retail and operations career — entirely through performance, not tenure.
COVID took the culinary school. I accepted it, didn't dwell, and channeled everything into the work in front of me. That's a pattern you'll notice if you follow my timeline long enough.
Freight Associate · Freight Supervisor · Paint & Millworks Department Supervisor · MET Merchandiser · Travel Merchandiser at Keurig Dr Pepper · Keyholder.
Each step came because someone above me took notice — not because I asked.
THEN I
TAUGHT
MYSELF
EVERYTHING
ELSE.
When I decided to build an online business, I didn't look for a class, a mentor, or a certification. I sat down and figured it out — the same way I've always figured things out. Web design. E-commerce. Digital marketing. AI tools. Basic coding. Payments. Taxes. Shipping logistics. Customer data.
I built it from scratch, made it work, and am now developing a mobile app — Zombie Solitaire — a skill-based real-money game with server-authoritative game logic, async matchmaking, and payment integration. A year ago I couldn't have told you what half those words meant. Now I'm building it.
That's my pattern: decide what I want to learn, go learn it without waiting for permission or a teacher, get good at it, then find a way to do it better than the way I was taught.

I BUILD
THE
INFRASTRUCTURE.
I am shifting from proving what I survived to building what other businesses need next: clear systems, dependable commerce, and technical infrastructure that can keep moving when the founder is busy doing the work.
